Madelaine Halmos Academy hosted a fantastic event coordinated by our HEALTH Program in collaboration with University of Florida’s IFAS Extension, Family Nutrition Program and the National Farm to School Network of Florida. The “Florida Crunch” event was a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore the world of Florida-grown fruits and vegetables.
The students got hands-on experience sampling unique produce they may not typically try, learning about the importance of local farming, and understanding how healthy, fresh foods contribute to their overall well-being. Events like Florida Crunch are crucial in nurturing a love for nutritious eating and educating our children on the benefits of supporting local farmers and sustainable practices.
It was an inspiring day filled with delicious food, valuable lessons, and enthusiastic participation from all the students. We’re grateful to our partners for making this day such a memorable learning experience!
