Michelle Turner

Director of Elementary Education, Madelaine Halmos Academy

Michelle Turner joined the Madelaine Halmos Academy as Director of Elementary Education in 2023. Prior to joining MHA, she most recently served as a Senior Level Education Consultant for several professional consulting firms across Mississippi, supporting the transformation of diverse public schools into higher performance levels with standards-based alignment, team collaboration, community resources and researched based practices. She has conducted hundreds of professional development sessions and trainings in districts providing student-centered approaches aligned to English Language Arts Curriculums for Pre-Kindergarten to eighth grade students. Her 25-year educational leadership experience has also led efforts to create new programs to set high standards for equity and excellence for all students and their families.

A strong advocate for academic success, Michelle headed the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) reaccreditation for two public schools. In addition to serving on committees to examine district strategic action plans.

Throughout her career, she has served as a tutor, mentor, elementary teacher, curriculum writer, principal, education consultant, and entrepreneur. Michelle is the recipient of District Administrator of the Year in 2011.

She is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a Specialist degree in Education Leadership Research, a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Psychology, Master’s degree in Education with emphasis in Reading Instruction from William Carey University, and an Associate of Arts degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
