Early Childhood Education

Jack and Jill Children’s Center Early Childhood Program is designed to meet the cognitive, social-emotional and physical needs of young children and their family. Emphasis is on helping children gain confidence and self-control empowering them to become decision makers and problem solvers. Children are encouraged to construct their own knowledge of the world around them by having hands-on experiences with diverse people, materials, ideas and events. The Center is licensed by Broward County Child Care Licensing and Enforcement Office and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Jack and Jill Children’s Center implements The Creative Curriculum, a nationally recognized curriculum guided by five fundamental principles:

    1. Positive interactions and relationships with adults provide a critical foundation for successful learning.
    2. Social–emotional competence is a significant factor in school success.
    3. Constructive, purposeful play supports essential learning.
    4. The physical environment affects the type and quality of learning interactions.
    5. Teacher–family partnerships promote development and learning.

 

Special programs such as Mind Up and PBS (Positive Behavior Support) enhance the curriculum by supporting children’s emotional intelligence development. Additionally, the Program implements continuity of care: a high-quality practice of having children stay with the same caregiver throughout their early years. Because learning occurs simultaneously with emotional attachment, it is best for young children to have a stable caregiver. This practice fosters strong connections and benefits the children by giving them caregivers who know them and their parents well.

THE INFANT/TODDLER PROGRAM

Because all children grow and learn in their own unique way and at their own pace, the Infant/Toddler program is tailored to meet the individual needs of each child in the classroom. At this level, children are encouraged to use emerging skills to discover and learn about the world. A child’s day consists of meaningful group and individual activities to help all children reach developmental milestones.

THE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

Our children transition to the Preschool program whose fundamental goal is to empower children to become active learners. At this stage, children focus on establishing and maintaining a classroom daily routine and strengthening problem solving and interpersonal skills.

THE ELEMENTARY PROGRAM

Currently, we offer Kindergarten and First Grade. Each program offers a classroom with low student-teacher ratio. Teachers work closely with students and parents to establish and meet learning goals and standards set forth by NAEYC and the Department of Education. Students are engaged in their own learning process thus making learning relevant and challenging. The classrooms are equipped with an interactive Promethean Board which allows teachers to bring lessons to life by enabling student interaction and collaboration. Placing a strong focus on working with technology in the classroom provides students and teachers with current and innovative means of learning.

 

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Jack and Jill Children’s Center considers parents to be advocates for their children’s education hence promoting parent participation and involvement through various volunteer opportunities. Parents are highly encouraged to join the Parent Council whose purpose is to provide families with a platform to work together on various projects, coordinate numerous special events throughout the year and to help parents take on a leadership role within the organization.
